The Special School for Intellectual Disabilities in Kanigiri provides individualized education for children aged 6 to 23 who require specialized support beyond mainstream schools. Through tailored IEPs, students across four disability categories Profound, Severe, Moderate and Mild receive focused training that strengthens their motor, self help, academic and communication skills. Children with profound disabilities benefit from home based training and physiotherapy, while others learn essential life skills, literacy and functional concepts like time and money. With a 1 to 6 teacher to student ratio, the school offers Pre Primary to Vocational training, ensuring continuous learning. Currently, 60 children are being equipped to participate confidently in society and pursue livelihood opportunities through vocational activities such as making envelopes, candles, paper plates and chalk pieces.
